No dictation software updates are available to non software support clients. This is a yearly fee paid to Ace Business Products per digital dictation use. Registration process as of 2008 The following is very important and needs to be addressed immediately by all firms. All brands of digital dictation have had some changes implemented lately. This information is to list the various brands and changes that may have taken effect lately and changes that may happen in the future. If a software registration is required Full registration is only carried out upon purchasing and payment of the digital dictation software. Ignore this section if only trialling the dictation software we have supplied you. Olympus and Philips Digital dictation updates Philips and Olympus hand held digital recorders:- Philips SpeechMike Executive software:- For the digital dictation brands we supply that come supplied with a CD such as Olympus and Philips. This CD and associated license number (Olympus) must be kept for all future reloading. With brands that do not use a rego number but use an USB dongle or an USB smart key (Philips) connected to the computer, this dongle or smart key must also be kept and connected before the software will function. With all the digital dictation brands we supply that the license number comes with the CD or the USB dongle/smart key you can only load once onto one PC at any time, particularly when connected to a network. If a license number needs to be loaded at another PC to the original PC you either have to purchase an additional software thus receiving an additional license key/USB dongle or you must remove the original software from the first PC via the normal Windows Add/Remove process first and the PC needs to be restarted. Then you will be able to use the license number originally supplied. We suggest this is always done as over time it can be forgotten the software is still on the original PC and if ever that original PC is re-introduced into the network environment with the software still present it can and generally will cause issues for other users within the firm as a duplication of license numbers will be seen by the network pc and instantly cause a license error for all users.. Any new software updates/links/patches we have available are not available for client that do not have a yearly support agreement. Additional download software’s are available to purchase for the Philips and Olympus dictation brands. For the digital dictation brands we supply that come with a CD, a web link is normally supplied for any patches or fixes. This web address changes on a regular basis so you need to always request the latest web link. When you load these web links you can create a copy and save for future loading as they are not a licensed item but they will only load onto a PC that has a fully licensed software loaded as they need to detect the presence of a fully functioning software before complete any update. When saving any patches never rename the file and usually if copied onto a CD it can become a ReadMe file only so may become disabled. Normally save to the server and run from there each time a patch is downloaded. Philips Smart Key guide. NEW PHILIPS SPEECHEXEC PRO SMART KEY installation: LED is green: Valid full license is on the smartkey In this state the smartkey behaves the same as the old dongles, the smartkey needs to be attached to the PC for the software to work. While green, you may download the license to the PC and the smartkey will turn orange. LED is orange: The full license has been downloaded; a 30 day license is available once. In this state the license is on a PC and the software will start without the smartkey attached. If the smartkey is orange, you may upload the license back to the smartkey turning the smartkey back to the green state. LED is red: Both the full license and demo license, have been downloaded. The Smartkey is blocked. No further upload possible. In this state the smartkey is locked and will need to be sent back to Philips for factory re-set. Please note: The 30 day license is for disaster recovery situations only, once this has been downloaded the key is locked. If the client intends to use the software on multiple PCs or home & office, we recommend leaving the license on the smartkey (green state) Do not connect an orange smartkey to a new PC when installing 5.0 as the software will attempt to install the 30day disaster recovery license and lock the smartkey. What do I do if I have a customer with a red smartkey? There are two scenarios that will cause a red (locked) smartkey: 1. The smartkey is locked however the full license is on a PC – this will occur if after downloading the license to a PC, the customer attempts to install on another PC while the smartkey is orange.In this case the smartkey will need to be sent to Philips to re-set to orange state, or we may be able to re-set to orange via a remote connection to a PC with the smartkey attached at your premises (we will not be re-setting smartkeys at customers sites directly) 2. The full license has been destroyed – this may occur if a customer’s PC/HDD crashes, they replaced the PC and re-installed on the new PC using the 30 day license. (i.e. they have no access to the original license) In this case the smartkey will need to be returned to Philips for factory re-set to the green state. Vista upgrades for Philips and Olympus hand held digital systems. Philips:- To upgrade to a Vista driver you must have the computer already running Philips SpeechExec Pro version 4.3 or later. You can not do a patch upgrade from the original Philips SpeechMike Executive 3.2 software or from SpeechPro 4.1..,4.2,,,. If you have the original Speechmike Executive 3.2 software you will need to purchase the latest Philips SpeechExec Pro Version 5 or later software Philips have on a CD and then it may be necessary to also download a Vista patch from our web link only supplied by our company. Olympus:- To upgrade to Vista you must have present the latest Olympus DSS Player pro Version 4.10 (DS4000/AS4000) software. You can not upgrade to Vista from Version 2 (DS200) or 3 (DS3000.) you must have the latest versions respectively then download the latest Vista patch. Quikscribe New V6 and Revised V5 updates You must de-register Quikscribe license number/s before removing or reloading. Quikscribe New Version 6 is only available to purchase for new installations/sales or is available if upgrading any existing user from the original Version 5 software. V6 is XP, Vista, 2000 compatible and will be updated with patches or fixes as required. Revised Version 5 is only available for upgrading from the original Version 5 software. It is not available for new installation/sales. V5 is not Vista compliant or forward compatible compliant. No updates, patches or fixes are available for V5. The only update available is moving to V6. To load the current Quikscribe V5 or V6 software you will need to request the web link from sale@abpace.com The Quikscribe V6 web link changes on a daily basis. When loading this web link you must first save the file, then run after it has been saved. Do not run the file before saving first. You must keep a copy of any license number in your own records for any future reloading. Nearly all existing hardware will operate with any current V5 or V6 software. Please be aware that all existing hardware may require that brands latest drivers or patches to operate in Quikscribe. You will need to have and be logged on as someone that has full Administration rights to load or register the QS software. You will also need internet access at the PC that needs to be licensed as the new license method uses internet access to license. (Non internet method is available on request.) You should generate your own copy of any Quikscribe software you have used to load this version of Quikscribe as the license number supplied now is to be used with the same version of software if/when it ever needs to be reloaded. The first time Quikscribe is opened you will be prompted to license the software. If a license number does not get entered the first time, each time the user starts the application, they will be prompted to enter the license number. Simply close these screens and continue using the software. There is a 30 day period to complete registration. On success and acceptance of the license number the license will be stored to the computer and the network server and activated each time via the web registration connection. If you have to rebuild/replace the computer, the license is remembered as it is based on the network card but you always must de-register the license number from one PC before loading onto a second PC. If you do not de-register, Quikscribe charge to de-register the V5 software. If you ever need to reload or move this Quikscribe software for this user. Once you load the Quikscribe software the license number becomes specifically aligned to the PC and to the version it was supplied with and each time the software is activated it will look to view if it has the PC it was originally loaded. If it notices a change in log in profile a failed license read may occur. To reload the software you must use drivers from your backup files. If you need to reload the V6 software or move the Quikscribe V6 software to a new/another PC you must first de-register the Quikscribe V6 software from the first PC. This must be done before you can use the same license number again. Simply use the V6 web link originally supplied (or your back up driver), reload as the original loading method, enter the existing license number (making sure it has been de-registered from the first PC) If you can not de-register the software due to PC failure you can request QS perform a de-registration. QS charge a fee to do this for Version 5. Presently no fee applies for V6. To de-register and Quikscribe license you need to click Help, click License Info, click Go Online. click the De-Register box. Follow the prompts on the screen. Restart the QS software. There is a fee to upgrade to either Revised V5 or new V6. an Additional yearly support option is also available. FOR NEW VERSION 6 and REVISED VERSION 5 CLIENTS:- De-Registering a QS license at a PC without internet access:- To manually deregister, you need to click on the License info and click go online. Because you do not have internet access, you will be prompted with a manual deregister. Click on the manual deregister which will deregister the licence from the computer Send the log back to sale@abpace.com and we will remove the licence from the database. Make sure that you send the licence number also. I will add we were not involved in the previous version 5 registration process as we are not involved in this new method as we simply on-send any email request to QS licensing and we await their reply. Quikscribe version 5 updates Things to point out with loading / running Version 5. The REVISED Version 5 registration license number will allow one license number for one typist and one license number for one author. You must keep records of all your own license numbers. Quikscribe REVISED Version 5 will never be made WINDOWS Vista or future Windows compliant. Version 6 is Vista compliant so if remaining with REVISED or original version 5 an upgrade to Version 6 will be required to operate on WINDOWS Vista. A cost will be incurred. There is no upgrade from version 5 to version 6 without a yearly support agreement in place. Quikscribe REVISED or original Version 5 will have no further updates made available. If any fixes or patches are required they will only be placed into Version 6 and Version 6 upgrade and yearly support will have to be purchased. Quikscribe upgrade from Version 5 to Version 6 presently is charged per user. Quikscribe version 5 is not available to purchase as a new product any more it is only available as an upgrade to existing Version 5 users. If Quikscribe need to carry out a de-registration a charge applies. SPECIAL NOTE: If no previous record is supplied when ordering a reloaded version software we may request a statutory declaration be signed.
